Fear & Courage

Fear is always near when there is an opportunity for courage. Courage isn't possible until adversity arises. Courage doesn't thwart adversity it moves purposefully through it.

And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.” Mat. 9:2

But Jesus turning and seeing her said

Matthew 9:22

“Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well."

These scriptures show us that Jesus would tell others to take courage before a miracle. What are the subtilties here? Courage is something God offers, courage is up for the taking, courage is tied to faith, miracles are nearby when courage is required.

Courage is a hard friend to choose because it makes us see things we overlook. Courage makes us look at the fallen ruins of all the false gods we have loved. It makes us look into ourselves. Remarkably so courage makes us also look at the unmovable immutable One True God! The Sovereign Generous Provider that has used a pandemic to call humanity to Himself.

In this time we must repent, reunite, rest, and reverence the Lord God Almighty. Each of those is a miracle. Repentance: the miracle of God takes us from a destructive thing and brings us to Himself. Reunion: the miracle of God still wanting us to be with Him. Rest: the miracle of realizing the world continues by God’s hands alone. Reverence: the miracle of beholding Him.

Can you trace these miracles in your life? If so, rejoice because it is evidence of your faith. If not, is it because you have yet to take a hold of what is being offered? Do you want all God has for you, namely Himself? Then take courage!

Fear is always near when there is an opportunity for courage, but so are miracles.
